About the Skipper About the Boat Sidney/North Saanich |

|
Ron's love of the sea began as a child with outings on the family boat and fishing with his father in the Victoria area. After spending 30 years in northern BC he returned to the coast a few years ago.
Ron started his formal training in sailing in 1990 by completing a 'Cruise and Learn' course. After a couple of charters he was 'bitten' by the sailing bug. He continued to upgrade his skills by completing a coastal navigation course, piloting, advanced piloting and a marine weather course. He also holds a restricted radio operators licence. During his years in Prince George as a professional land surveyor, he also skippered sailboat charters on Stuart Lake. Ron loves the outdoors. His pursuits have included hiking and backpacking, camping, white water canoeing, snowboarding and mountain biking. He is an advanced open water scuba diver and previously was a flat water canoeing instructor. As the owner of a Hunter 26 sailboat for 12 years and recently a Beneteau 400, he has logged countless hours sailing. He has an extensive knowledge of the gulf island waters including negotiating the tides and currents of the area. Ron's background in surveying and mapping is a definite asset to navigating the many islands and passes that make up the Southern Gulf Islands. You will find his easy going and friendly manner makes him a hospitable host for your charter |
